Arne Kasten

Director

Born 1994 in Velbert, Arne wanted to make films as a child already. After directing the award-winning fictional short film SHATTERED, a year studying filmmaking in Leeds, UK, some work as third assistant director on a feature, he’s now doing his master’s degree in audio-visual media. With “Juha – in the life of a reindeer herder” he wants to show a portrait about a person, coping with the effects of the climate change.

 
 

Katja Schmid

Executive producer
&Creative supervisor

Katja Schmid is a full-time professor for visual effects and post production at Stuttgart Media University. She holds an MFA in cinematography from the Babelsberg Film University and has worked on more than 50 media productions for film and television, among them “Beyond the Sea”, “The Bourne Supremacy” and the award-winning documentary “Aufbruch ’89”. She has curated several conference tracks at FMX and VeGA Camp. In 2018 Katja founded the Visual Media Lab Research Institute in Stuttgart. Her current field of research is color for storytelling.

Karoliina Niemelä

&CREATIVE SUPERVISOR

Karoliina Niemelä is a full-time senior lecturer of visual design at the Oulu University of Applied Sciences. Her special field of area is from  traditional graphic design, user centred design, digital publishing to experimenting  testing in connecting art and technology, Her work career consists of various artistic projects from exhibitions, documentaries, media art to community art projects.

Matvey Fridmann

Director OF PHOTOGRAPHY

Matvey holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Media IT and worked on the Portrait of Change project during the final stages of his Master program in Audio-Visual Media. After being a freelance cinematographer, gaffer, editor and producer in the realm of music, event and company videos, as well as fictional short-form content, he was thrilled to be able to join such a big project as a documentary cinematographer.

Clarissa Danner

EDITOR & Photographer

Clarissa is currently in the Bachelor’s program of Audio-Visual Media in Stuttgart. She focused on postproduction, such as visual effects, editing and color grading and contributed to a variety of film projects. She also loves to capture moments with her camera, to connect with people and learn from other cultures. Therefore Portrait of Change was a great opportunity.

Ines Eismann

After her Bachelor studies in Audiovisual Media at the HDM Ines is now deepening her camera skills in the Master program. She used the chance to combine this international project with a whole semester abroad in Oulu.

Rafael Simmann

While studying audiovisual media in Stuttgart, Rafael Simmann specialized in the realm of audio production. During his studies he worked on fictional and and non-fictional projects, such as the short movie “Overrun”. To work on a project with cultural and social value, from the very beginning to the end of postproduction, is a great conclusion and a highlight of his bachelor degree.

Khascha H. Mahdavi

Khascha studied at Stuttgart Media University and holds a Master Degree in Audiovisual Media. As a freelance producer he worked on several national and international short films and documentaries, such as his latest movie “Good Luck”, which has been awarded by the British Independent Film Festival in London. In addition, Khascha counsels companies in practical implementation of digital media.

Niclas Y. Scheiblich

Producer & PRODUCTION
MANAGER

Niclas Y. Scheiblich studies the bachelor program Audiovisual Media at the Stuttgart Media University of Applied Sciences (HdM). The focus of his studies lies in production (producer / production manager) of scenic as well as documentary films. In addition, he has also worked beside production in the field of visual effects in an advertising film “Be(er) a Hero”. The special thing about “Juha – In the life of a reindeer herder” is the cooperation and the cultural exchange with the Finnish colleagues. “Portrait of Change” is already a unique project.

Karolina Kraska

GRAPHIC & UX DESIGN

Karolina is a Polish graphic designer based in Finland. Her focus is mainly on graphic design and illustration. During her career in Finland she worked with art community all around the country. She also worked on several international projects including cooperations in Poland, Finland and Lithuania.

Anttu Herva

Anttu Herva studies visual design at the Oulu University of Applied Sciences. He specializes in audio-visual productions but is also comfortable with graphics and editing. 

Sami Aspelund

Sami Aspelund is a journalist student at the Oulu University of Applied Sciences. His primary interest is photography but he is also interested in investigating journalism.

Noora Kuha

Noora is currently studying visual design at the Oulu University of Applied Sciences. She is on her 3rd year and she hopes to focus on the graphic design in the future.

Satu Koho

Satu Koho is a full-time principal lecturer of journalism at the Oulu University of Applied Sciences. Her special fields are print journalism, good journalistic practice and media research. She is also a researcher at the Jyväskylä University department of Music, Art and Culture Studies. Interests: representations of northern places and landscapes, topophilia/topophobia, insideness/outsideness, sense of place, also genderand corporeality in art and media.
